Health Care

Access to health care may vary across countries, communities, and individuals, largely influenced by social and economic conditions as well as the health policies in place. Countries and jurisdictions have different policies and plans in relation to the personal and population-based health care goals within their societies. Healthcare systems are organizations established to meet the health needs of targeted populations. Their exact configuration varies between national and subnational entities. In some countries and jurisdictions, health care planning is distributed among market participants, whereas in others, planning occurs more centrally among governments or other coordinating bodies. In all cases, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), a well-functioning healthcare system requires a robust financing mechanism; a well-trained and adequately paid workforce; reliable information on which to base decisions and policies; and well maintained health facilities and logistics to deliver quality medicines and technologies.

For any nation or Society, the critical factor is to build a healthy population. It is important that the nation’s healthcare expenditure and the lack of facilities should not be burden on population. This is challenge in developing countries like ours. As we progress ahead, the large population still struggles with substantial issues and worrying gaps in healthcare system. This results in increasing rate of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) due to changes in lifestyle & the substantial increase in aging population. Obviously, all this will stretch individual and put back on us socio economic burden. The responsibilities of Health care companies shall be here to play a pivotal role in sharing and reducing this this burden.

Economic Impact

Over all income loss due to improper Health care/ lack of facility and access, on an average almost 22 per cent of the annual household income is lost. This is substantially high in the rural areas compared to urban areas. The geographical contiguity of high burden of income loss poses a challenge in ensuring the basic amenities and health care services that makes an individual capable of contributing to economy. Pharmaceutical sector plays an important role to contribute in healthy growth of India economy by facilitating these challenges.
